Catania underground, work begins on the Misterbianco Centro – Paternò section
Official: work has started on the new section of the Catania Metro, Misterbianco Centro – Paternò!
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, March 22nd, at the FCE station in Piano Tavola. With a route length of 11.5 km, over 50% of which is underground, this new section will include five key stops: Gullotta, Belpasso, Valcorrente, Giaconia, and Paternò.
Thanks to this project, the entire Catania Metro line will be completed, totaling 30 km and 27 stations, connecting the areas of Paternò, Belpasso, Misterbianco, and Catania to Fontanarossa Airport.
The detailed design work was carried out by the temporary consortium of designers composed of Lombardi Ingegneria Italia, F&M Ingegneria SpA, and SIPAL S.p.A. Funding comes from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
