Opulent Ascension: the journey from the spiritual to the physical dimension and viceversa
The Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, in Venice, hosts the “Human” exhibition by Sean Scully until 13 October 2019. Among the 40 works exhibited, the most impressive 10 meters height is “Opulent Ascension” located exactly under the central dome of the basilica. F&M Ingegneria, with the architect Elisabetta Fabbri, carried the structural design of the work: a “tower” with a 3,6×3,6m square base and 10,2m high, made of multilayered wood panels and stiff wooden solid rafters.
