Extraordinary Program Viability Port of Genoa
The plan of works included in the Extraordinary Program envisages the construction of a new road system inside and outside the port area through the creation of corridors and accesses dedicated to heavy traffic and consists of several infrastructural works extending along the port arch from Calata Bettolo in the east to the Pionieri e Aviatori d’Italia viaduct in the west. These works will improve the road system by separating city and port traffic and will allow direct access to the motorway via the Genova Ovest and Genova Aeroporto toll stations.
The new Ponte del Papa (Pope’s Bridge) is the main work of the Extraordinary Program aimed at improving accessibility to the port of Genoa, city-port integration and intermodal connections with Cristoforo Colombo airport: a two-level arch bridge with two lanes in each direction, one connected to the causeway extension and the other to the level road system.
