The New Olgiate Olona Gymnasium: a state-of-the-art facility
We are pleased to announce that the new gymnasium in Olgiate Olona, Varese, is officially ready! This modern structure, made entirely of steel, represents an example of technical and design excellence in the Italian sports scene.
The gymnasium boasts a regulation field that complies with CONI regulations, enhanced by a retractable grandstand on three bleachers and a fixed grandstand spanning the upper three, able to comfortably accommodate about 350 seated spectators.
There is no shortage of essential services for a high-level sports facility: a modern locker room block, a first aid room, an anti-doping area, spaces for the various sports associations, a cozy bar for refreshment moments, and a gymnasium on the upper floor for additional activities.
Two main technologies were used in the construction of the gymnasium: a concrete foundation with exposed exterior cladding and a pre-assembled metal structure, machined off-site. This combination, together with lightweight polycarbonate honeycomb infills, provides strength and lightness to the entire building, optimizing both construction time and the quality of the work.
Architect Giulia de Appolonia was in charge of the construction management, the architectural design and the electrical and special systems design, with F&M Ingegneria SpA providing operational management of structural and plant engineering works.
