Pala Expo “Padiglione Aquae”, Marghera: Veneto’s largest vaccination hub

The Pala Expo “Padiglione Aquae” in Marghera, built in 2015 to host the “Aquae” exhibition — a side event of the Milan Expo — is today the largest vaccination hub in the Veneto region.

The pavilion, with its very large interior spaces (almost the size of a football pitch), has been converted into a vaccination centre, fully operational for over 3 months now.

Strategically located from a logistical standpoint and easily accessible by public transport as well, the Pavilion represents the first phase of the urban regeneration project of a large area of the former Porto Marghera industrial complex, situated at the gateway to Venice.

The architectural design was handled by Arch. Michele De Lucchi. F&M Ingegneria oversaw the structural design and operational management. In particular, the steel roof structure received the Award of Merit at the European competition “ECCS EUROPEAN STEEL DESIGN AWARD 2015”.
