IN/ARCHITETTURA 2026 Lombardy Awards: Public Projects in Sesto Calende Honored

At the IN/ARCHITETTURA 2026 Awards ceremony for Lombardy, hosted by the ADI Design Museum in Milan, the winners in the New Construction category included the public projects carried out in Sesto Calende for the municipality, based on a design by Giulia De Appolonia – officina di architettura. The jury praised the project’s ability to reunite a fragmented urban context through a well-structured sequence of public spaces, restoring a new identity and distinctiveness to the site.

Overlooking the Ticino riverfront, the project includes a multipurpose hall with approximately 450 seats and the headquarters of the canoe club: two buildings with the same geometry but characterized by distinct architectural styles, integrated into a system of open spaces comprising a tree-lined avenue, access ramps to the river, rest areas, and an event plaza of approximately 1,000 m².

F&M Ingegneria contributed to the project by handling the structural and mechanical/electrical design, coordinating safety during the design and construction phases, providing construction management, and assisting with project management in support of architect De Appolonia.
